Dr Hugh Allen
Respiratory, Sleep and General Paediatrician
Dr Allen is a respiratory and sleep physician. He also does general paediatrics and allergy management. He offers services such as allergy testing and pulmonary lung function test.He works with the paediatric sleep study units at Sydney Adventist Hospital and Sydney Children's hospital,Randwick for performing paediatric sleep studies. Both these Sleep Centres now offer a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic intervention sleep studies for children.
Dr Hugh Allen graduated from the University of Sydney in 1979 and completed his fellowship in 1985 . He has been a fully qualified paediatric sleep physician since 1987 through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has worked both in rural and outback NSW. He is currently a Visiting Medical officer at the Royal North Shore Hospital and has worked there for the last 25 years.
Dr Joshua Steadson
Dr Josh Steadson is a general paediatrician with a special interest in feeding difficulties, bed wetting and neonatal medicine. He also enjoys seeing the wide variety of general paediatric problems including behavioural and attention difficulties along with other chronic medical problems. Josh studied medicine at the University of Sydney where he graduated with both honours and a wife - a fellow medical student who is now a successful GP and mother to their two lovely children. He completed his early medical training at Hornsby, Mona Vale and Manly hospitals and his specialist paediatric training at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, Royal North Shore Hospital and Hornsby-Kuringai Hospital and community health service. He has private rooms in St Leonards, Pymble and Hornsby and works as a VMO at The Childrens Hospital at Westmead and Hornsby-Kuringai Hospital. Josh enjoys medical education, having taught medical students for the University of Sydney for several years and running regular simulation courses in paediatric medical emergencies for junior doctors and nurses. If he had more spare time he would spend it in the bush - with his family if they’d join him!
Dr James Thomas
Bsc(Med), MBBS, FRACP, GradDipClinEpi
Dr Thomas is a consultant general paediatrician, practicing in this role since 2005, having completed his training at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He has VMO positions at Royal North Shore Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital.
In his practice, Dr Thomas sees children from newborn to 18 years of age. While he sees a broad range of general paediatric issues, he has a special interest in developmental delays and disorders, behavioural difficulties, learning difficulties, attentional disorders / ADHD, problems with growth, weight gain and nutrition, toileting issues, and bowel/ bladder problems. He will work closely with parents, school staff, psychologists and other allied health professionals to achieve the best outcomes for the children he sees. Dr Thomas previously worked in private suites at Artarmon.
Dr Karin Timmers
MBBS MSc MPH FRACP
Dr Karin Timmers is a Consultant Paediatrician with abundant experience in acute and on-going general paediatric care. In addition, she has experience in Adolescent Health including management of eating disorders, weight management and complex adolescent care.
Karin gained her Medical Degree (MBBS/MSc) in the Netherlands and moved to Australia in 2005, where she completed her Paediatric training, including a Masters of Public Health at the University of Newcastle.
Karin worked in Tertiary Paediatric Centres such as Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick, The Children’s Hospital in Westmead, John Hunter Children’s Hospital and several regional and rural hospitals.
Karin provides General Paediatric and Adolescent Care including direction and support to children and families that are struggling with eating disorders and weight management.
As a mother of a boy and a girl in primary school, Karin is aware of the impact medical and mental health issues have on the individual and their family, and is passionate in providing support for families in need.
Karin is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Eating Disorders (ANZEAD), a member of the Australian Association of Adolescent Health (AAAH) and a member of the Neurodevelopmental and Behavioural Paediatric Society of Australasia (NBPSA).
Dr Catherine Jonas

Dr Catherine Jonas MBBS MD FRACPSleep and General Paediatrician Dr Catherine Jonas is a Consultant Paediatrician and a Paediatric Sleep Physician. In addition to general childhood medical conditions, she has special interest in obstructive sleep apnoea, insomnia and various non-respiratory sleep disorders. She completed her medical degree in India. She got trained in General Paediatrics as well as Sleep Medicine in the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. As a Conjoint Lecturer with UNSW, she was actively involved in training undergraduate medical students. She is interested in medical research studies and has presented her research work in several national and international conferences. She can do home-based oximetry download and arrange sleep studies through Sydney Adventist Hospital.She is a mother of two teenage boys, and enjoys travelling, cooking and gardening.
Dr Alexandra Johnson
Dr Alexandra Johnson is a Paediatric Neurologist working in both the public and private sectors in Sydney, Australia. She has positions at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital and Liverpool Hospital and privately, consults in St Leonards (Northern Children’s Specialist Clinic) and Bondi (The Children’s Clinic). She also loves spending time with her husband and two children, who try to help her become an expert in Minecraft, Star Wars, and Transformers (currently).
Neurological disorders such as headache and epilepsy are not uncommon in children, teenagers and young adults. At least five out of every ten teenagers experience headache at least once a month. One in twenty children will have a seizure during childhood, whilst one in two hundred are diagnosed with epilepsy. Both disorders can lead to a high burden of disability and distress or anxiety for these children and their families. In walking this path with families, Alexandra aims to understand their concerns through listening, communication and provision of appropriate information and education.
Dr Simone Ardern-Holmes
Dr Simone Ardern-Holmes has worked in the field of paediatric neurology and neurogenetics. At present she is associated with the Children's Hospital, Westmead.
Dr Kim Ramjan
BSc MBChB DCH FRACP
Dr Kim Ramjan is a Paediatric Endocrinologist and Staff Specialist at the Royal North Shore and Gosford Hospitals (Type 1 diabetes clinic). She completed a BSc and MBChB at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand and a Diploma of Child Health during her paediatric training.
Kim trained in paediatric endocrinology at the Institute of Endocrinology and Diabetes at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. She has clinical interests in obesity and insulin resistance, puberty, growth and thyroid disorders in children and adolescents.
Kim is completing a PhD through the University of Sydney investigating the effect of a novel form of resistance training in the management of overweight adolescents with insulin resistance. She continues to be involved in mentorship and training of medical students and junior doctors as a Clinical Associate Lecturer at the Sydney Medical School.
Dr Guy Henry
Dr Guy Henry is a specialist Paediatric Surgeon who has been practicing in Sydney for over 10 years. He is based at Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick, and also consults and operates in the Sutherland Shire and on the lower North Shore.
His interests include general paediatric surgery (including circumcision), hypospadias, minimally invasive surgery (keyhole surgery), gastroesophageal reflux surgery, oncological surgery and foetal malformations.
